Now the question is what are google glass for, what is it all about? Believe me some of us dont know what google glass is, we have not even heard of it not to talk of knowing what is it. Now this article will reveal to you what google glass is and some of the uses.
Google glass is a wearable computer with a head- mounted display [HND] that is being develop by google in the project glass reseach and development project with the mission of producing a mass-market ubiquitous computer. Google glass displays information in a smartphone-like hands-free format, that can interact with the internet via natural language voice commands. While the frames do not currently have lenses fitted to them, google is considering partnering with sunglass retailers such as Ray-Ban or Wardy Parker and may also open retail stores to allow customers to try on the devices.
When google glass was unveiled the two tech world became divided into two camps, one camp was very excited about this new development, according to them we are living in the sci-fi-future. On the other hand camp two though was not so happy about this, it was a vapourware according to some while others believed that google just wanted to show off to the whole world.
Google glass is the attempt to make wearable computing mainstream, and it is effectively a smart pair of glasses with an intergrated heads- up display and a battery hidden inside the frame
wearable computing is not a new ideal but google's enormous bank account and can- do attitude means that project glass could well be the first product to do significant numbers. Now the question you are going to ask here is WHEN WILL GOOGLE GLASS BE RELEASE? Because believe me or not most or some of us are excited about this new idea and we cant wait to see it and for those who will be able to afford, we just cant wait. Originally the project was suppose to be out for release in 2014 at the earliest but the latest news on google glass release date seems to look like we could see consumer units by the end of 2013 and that is because the prototype explore units are rapidly becoming common site around sanfransico- and right now google is allowing competition winners to pay 1.500 US dollars to get these early offerings. Furthermore here are some of the USES OF GOOGLE GLASS; the main use of this google glass is the tiny prism display which sites a little bit above the eyelines, you can see what is on the display be glancing up. The glasses also have inbuilt camera, micropones, GPS and reportedly, use bone induction to give you good quality sounds, it also comes with voice control which controls the device; when you say 'ok glass' its enables you get range of options including taking pictures, videos, send messages using speech to text, 'hang out' with people or get directions to somewhere. You access these options by saying them out aloud. Now this is for some of us who hadly get use to peoples names especailly when we attends party, events, programes and meets with people from different location of the world and finds it very difficult to remember their names the moment they are out of out sight, with the google glass ''INSIGHT'' we can remember those nanes, although there are no much details yet but according to a new scientist the software uses a smartphone applications that snaps series of pictures of the user, which it uses to document the clothing and movement style. The information is used to create a "fingerprint" called a spatiogram — named because its "captures the spatial distribution of colors, textures, and patterns" of clothing — that is sent to a cloud. Whenever the software "sees" that unique spatiogram, it will identify the person with a nametag or arrow or even with their social media handle. Also you dont have to worry about privacy because the spatiogram will erase the person information once the person change his or her clothes which makes it a temporary file. Once you change your clothes that the end, your information and everything about you is completely erased. And less I forget to say this '' you have to opt in'' to the programe in the first place. This may also seems a little bit difficult for the everyday person but for people with medical conditions like faceblindness or other neurological disorders that make recognizing people difficult, it could be life-changing. It could also be great for parents who take their children to crowded areas where there is a risk of being separated since the software is basically scanning the crowd for that unique information.
Furthermore google recently announced that their product will be available for people who wear prescription glasses.
The software was created by Dr. Srihari Nelakuditi, University of South Carolina, and Dr. Romit Roy Choudhury, Duke University, and funded by Google and the National Science Foundation
