The Smartphone Robot

There’s a dock that can roam around your house and do multiple things far from your ordinary or luxury speaker system dock that will charge your handset. Accordingly, it’s a robotic dock for your Android or iOS smartphones that’s called Romo. rather than streaming your music or charging up battery levels like other run-of-the-mill docks, this bad boy turns your smartphone into a robot. Compatible with the iPhone 4S, iPod Touch, Motorola Droid and Samsung Galaxy handsets, plug your phone into the Romo, download an app and you’ve got your very own R2D2, Wall-E or Johnny-Five. Robot fans can either set the robotic dock with preset motion paths or control it manually by downloading another app to an additional smartphone or tablet device. Creating a preset path could, for example, see the robotic dock reversing and changing direction each time it hits a wall or unmoveable object. Utilise your smarpthone’s camera and you’ve even got yourself a Romo is basically a robotic dock for your smartphone. Depending on which app you run while he's plugged in, he'll perform different actions. The great part is that it doesn't plug in through an Apple dock connector or any proprietary connection. Instead, Romo utilizes the standard headphone jack, making it compatible with any iOS or Android smartphone. The robotic charmer may still be young, but thanks to the open platform and the fact that anyone can make an app, he/she/it is learning very quickly. The basic Romo app will let you control your robo-buddy with a secondary device, turning it into a spybot that streams video straight to you. It can also turn Romo into a robot with a mind all its own, going about its business by exploring your home or office. If you turn on some music; Romo may even bust a move. And a new Android app lets you draw a route for it to follow.
